Bajaj Auto chetak
Bajaj Auto announced it’s with the launch of its electric scooter — Chetak. The Pune-based company did not reveal the price of the product and will announce it before beginning dispatches but had given some information about it. This new product is made at a state-of-art temperature-controlled, facility at Chakan (the industrial area around Pune), to exacting standards using the best material and cutting edge robotic technology.
The new Chetak will be available in two variants and offer a range of 85 kilometers and 95 kilometers. The e-scooter has an IP67 rated high-tech lithium-ion battery with NCA cells. “When we do something it’s better to come first and there is virtually no point coming second or third. It’s very important to be first to market. Scooters and step-through are a very important segment and we have not made the electric Chetak be in the volume space. We are trying to build meaningful niches with three-wheelers, superbikes, and electric scooters,” said Bajaj. The company will start selling the electric scooter in January in Pune and later expand to Bangalore.
Bajaj stopped manufacturing traditional scooters around 2009 in order to focus on motorcycles.According to director of Bajaj AutoThere is immense potential for scooters and three-wheelers in the electric space. After a long period of time they now announced the scooter –chetak. The new Chetak features a hypnotic horseshoe-shaped LED headlight with DRLs, electronic switches and sequential scrolling LED blinkers. A large digital console intuitively displays vehicle information with crisp clarity.
If sorted with a good range this scooter will attract people as it promotes electric vehicle. Yet the prices are not revealed, it would soon be done, managing director Bajaj Auto, Subsequent expansion will depend on the demand in these two cities. The vehicle will be sold from the Pro Biking dealerships of the company from which it also sells the KTM super bike.
The reduction in corporate tax will give the company an additional room of ₹450-500 crore, which it will use to absorb some of the cost of developing and manufacturing the electric scooter.[wp-reviews]
