BMW i4
BMW i4 is going to launch the i4 till 2021 and the company is aiming that this luxury sedan aiming to take on American EV manufacturer Tesla with its latest all-electric sedan The German luxury carmaker has already started road testing of the vehicle and published the image of the car as well.
The BMW i4 is an all-electric four-door fastback styled sedan under development by German automobile manufacturer BMW, marketed as a four-door coupé. It is the fourth model of the electric BMW i sub-brand and is described as “a 3 Series with battery-electric drive and a heavily modified body” The BMW i4 is based on the i Vision Dynamics concept that first made its debut at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show
BMW confirmed the BMW i4 would utilize lightweight construction to make the model attractive in an electric market weighed down by bulky batteries that reduce on-road handling.
It will use lithium-ion battery cells while riding on a new common rear-wheel architecture (CLAR) that BMW is currently developing. On the all-wheel-drive model, a large electric motor will reside at the rear, while a smaller one only kicks in when the front tires require power.
Also, the sedan will get an 80 kWh battery pack combined with an electric motor that is capable of churning out 537 PS of peak power.
Upon launch, it is expected to challenge the Tesla Model 3 sedan. BMW is likely to start selling the car from 2021, when it will join the other models from the i division, including i3 hatchback. The pricing is not reviled till know but it would be soon.
