Electric vehicle subsidy
Electric vehicle subsidy – Delhi’s air quality remained in the “very poor” category with the Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 352. Stubble burning, local emissions and unfavorable weather conditions pushed Delhi’s overall air quality index into the very poor category. The state has to do a lot to improve this. One of the major and to boost the electric mobility government has announced electric vehicle subsidy.
Under its EV policy, the Delhi government will give incentive of up to 30,000 for two-wheelers, autos, e-rickshaws and goods carriers while a subsidy of 1.5 lakh will be provided for purchase of electric cars, officials said.
The minister said “Vehicles priced up to 15 lakh will be eligible for the purchase incentive (subsidy), besides exemption of road tax and registration fee. Electric vehicles having a price over 15 lakh will not get subsidy but will be eligible for road tax and registration fee exemption”.
Delhi Transport minister on Friday launched the electric vehicle policy portal for flawless disbursement of all the demand incentives for the vehicle buyers. The subsidy will be applicable for all vehicles registered after August 7 this year when the policy was notified while road tax will be applicable from October 10 and registration fee exemptions from October 15. The electric vehicles dealer can log into ev.delhi.gov.in and apply for the subsidy.
Delhi transport department has already approved over 100 EV models which will be eligible for this electric vehicle subsidy scheme. Till now, 36 manufacturers have registered and 98 dealers have joined with us in this mission, the minister said.
The 10 models comprise of 14 electric two-wheelers (Hero Electric, Okinawa, Ampere, Jitendra New EV Tech and Li-ions Electric), 12 electric four-wheelers (Tata and Mahindra), 4 electric-autos (2- Mahindra, 1-Piaggio, and 1-Saarthi), 45 e-rickshaw models and 17 e-cart models.
The minister hoped that the website will be a huge help for buyers to learn about all EV models and use this information in arriving at their buying decision. It involves three-step beginning with the buyer going to an EV dealer buyer buys the electric vehicle and gives all the details necessary to get the incentive to the dealer only (e.g. sales invoice, Aadhaar, a copy of canceled cheque) There is no need to fill any form separately in any government office.
Each electric vehicle dealer has been provided with a dedicated login to the site ev.delhi.gov.in wherein they can file the claims for demand incentives. The entire approval and disbursement process is online paperless and will be completed within three days. MLOs will be in charge of approving the claim applications.
