Ford first Electric Vehicle for China
Ford first Electric Vehicle for China aims to grab urban commuters with electric Territory Ford Motor Co. launched sales of its first electric vehicle, the battery powered version of the Ford Territory, on Monday. The compact crossover has a starting price of 199,000 Yuan ($27,832), which will be lowered to 182,800 yuan after government subsidies.
The compact crossover/SUV is based on the Yusheng S330 and was jointly developed with Jiangling Motors.
With young urban commuters as target customers, the electric Territory offers a range of 360 kilometers on one change. Like the gasoline version, the electric crossover is produced at Jiangling Motors Co., Ford’s truck joint venture.
Jiangling Motors also builds the Everest SUV, Tourneo multi-purpose vehicle and Transit van for the Ford brand as well as light vehicles and trucks for its proprietary JMC brand. It really could be an interesting competitor for the base version of the Hyundai Kona Electic, but this model is only for China.
The electric Territory is the second electrified vehicle Ford has rolled out in China, following the plug-in hybrid variant of the Mondeo, which is assembled at Changan Ford, Ford’s passenger vehicle partnership
China is Ford’s second biggest market after the United States.Ford plans to roll out 30 more new and upgraded models including at least ten electrified vehicles under the Ford and Lincoln brands in China in the next three years.
