Tata motors, market leader of commercial vehicle is geared up to launch its first Electric SUV – Nexon . It’s Tata Motors’ second Nexon EV after the Tigor EV and the first electric compact SUV in India. The Tata Nexon EV joins the newly launched Electric Vehicle club that currently only existed of the MG ZS EV and the Hyundai Kona

Tata Nexon electric is crossover in the true sense, a perfect blend of a sub-compact SUV’s tall stance with a hatchback like the curvy design. Nexon EV will appear with new styling which will be carried forward to its fossil-fueled siblings.

Exteriors –

Masculine fascia with blue chrome lights and new grill that is much flatter and a large air-dam with a tri-arrow signature. Eye-catching machined alloy wheels, electronically adjustable alloy wheels. Taillights with LED inserts.

Currently, This vehicle is available in 3 colors, Signature teal blue, glacier white and moonlit silver, all these colors are eye-catching and augment looks.

Interiors –

Interiors are like its IC engine sibling. The top model comes with 7-inch digital instrument cluster which displays EV specific information such as battery consumption, charge level, etc.

Vehicle performance –

The Nexon EV comes with a new Ziptron powertrain, which utilizes a permanent magnet AC motor that develops 129PS of power and 245Nm of torque. It draws power from a 30.2kWh battery pack. As per ARAI certification, it delivers a range of 312 km. However, the assured range of 260 km seems attainable. The battery pack is IP67 certified which has resistance to water and dust under 1 meter of water.  A fast charger can achieve a 0-80 percent charge in 60 minutes, while a regular charger can achieve 20-100 percent charge in eight hours. Tata Motors is providing a 3.3 kW AC on-board charger with the Nexon EV. The battery has a warranty of eight years or 1.60 lakh km.

Vehicle safety –

Overall body structure is sturdy and stable. The Nexon EV is certified with a five-star safety rating in the Global NCAP crash test. The electric SUV will get safety equipment like dual airbags, ABS with EBD and corner stability control. The battery pack is liquid-cooled and IP67 certified.

Good info.
Some of videos on YouTube showing real time range is 260 to 280 km. Tata is not clear on DC charging stations. What will be the governments subsidy or RTO on EVs still not clear.
